Karen Stainsby

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and counselling supervisor, hold BACP senior accreditation, registration and have been working as a qualified counsellor for twenty three years.

My counselling work is underpinned and supported by many years of experience in the medical, academic, private, statutory and voluntary sectors. It is coupled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of human psychology and breadth of experience gained through working with a wide range of clients’ concerns and problems.  My work is highly regarded both by my clients and colleagues. I feel very privileged to have met and helped hundreds of different people from various walks of life with their difficulties and challenges.

I am an experienced corporate trainer and have designed and delivered courses to counsellors and other health-care professionals. I have extensive experience in course and curriculum design (as a previous Tutor, Assessor, Moderator and Principal Examiner with a counselling training organisation and major UK examining body). I also write and review books about therapy, supervision and personal development and contribute to psychotherapeutic publications.

Many people come to counselling with me through a friend's recommendation, their GP, work (via an EAP scheme) or because they have had counselling with me for a different issue and now seek help with another issue.  I tailor my therapeutic approach to each client's particular character, situation and difficulty, offering a variety of approaches to help them.
